Host: Price Atkinson
Price Atkinson is a veteran journalist, broadcaster and sports talk radio host in the Upstate of South Carolina.
For four years, Atkinson co-hosted an afternoon drive-time show "Straight Up With Sturg" on ESPN Upstate radio and spent three seasons co-hosting the Clemson football postgame call-in show "The Xtra Point," which ended in Tampa where the Tigers captured the 2016 National Championship.
Prior to radio, Atkinson cut his teeth in the field specializing in sports writing and print journalism as a graduate from the University of Kentucky where he was a four-year, Division I swimmer for the Wildcats. He worked in the sports information office at UK and then four years at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.
He also did a pair of stints writing for his hometown newspaper The Greenville News before serving as communications director for his local Congressman for six years.
In addition to radio where he's covered the last-three College Football Playoff semifinals and national championship games, as well as other postseason bowl games, Super Bowl 50 and the 2015 Little League World Series, he's also done play-by-play and anchored local ESPN3 broadcasts for various sports.
He's an active member of the Football Writers Association of America, the United States Basketball Writers Association, Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association and South Carolina Broadcasters Association.
Passionate about college sports and the Olympic movement, Atkinson works full-time in energy policy communications for George Mason University. He and his wife Rebecca have two kids and reside in Easley, S.C.
